The Hawke s Bay Regional Council is proposing an ambitious tree planting solution to protect and strengthen as much as 250,000 hectares of what it calls highly-erodable and vulnerable land.
In a trial named Right Tree Right Place , the Council will offer a loan and other funding mechanisms to landowners to plant trees on the land, with economic and environmental benefits, from manuka, honey, timber and horticulture options with the greatest potential to deliver a return and offset loan repayments.

Since 2019, there has been a growing movement to end hair discrimination within schools and the work place. The Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair, or CROWN Act, aims to prevent discrimination against any hair texture or protective style associated with one s race.
According to its website, the CROWN Act was first signed into law in July 2019.
First introduced in California in January 2019 and signed into law on July 3, 2019, the inaugural CROWN Act expanded the definition of race in the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and state Education Code, to ensure protection in workplaces and in K-12 public and charter schools. Since then, The CROWN Act has galvanized support from federal and state legislators in the movement to end hair discrimination nationwide.

A man is self-isolating in Northland after travelling to New Zealand from Perth, despite the city being in lockdown.
The breach was found during routine passenger checks after the man arrived in Auckland on Monday.
The people of Northland have questions, the main one being: where is he self-isolating?

Parts of Missouri raked by strong storms; tornado spotted

SPARTA, Mo. (AP) Strong storms are moving across parts of Missouri, and at least one tornado was spotted in the state’s southwestern corner.
The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado around 10 a.m. about 8 miles (12.87 kilometers) south of Sparta. A tornado warning was issued for the area, which included the towns of Elkhead, Oldfield, Garrison, Keltner and Chadwick. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the tornado.
Further east, the weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Douglas, Howell, Ozark, Taney, Webster and Wright counties. Storms were expected to bring hail, heavy rain and damaging winds up to 60 mph (96.5606 kph).
